Politicians

It is voting time in Japan again. And those loud ass Sendenshas that I wrote about last year are back again. Hopefully this doesn't happen every year. Surely it is only because I moved to a new city that I have to endure one painful week a year of being WOKEN UP to travelling LOUD speakers.

This year, I managed to snag some proof. I shot this earsplitting video with my phone from my fifth story balcony.

The worst part about this car, is that it is representing my next door neighbor. Thats right, the person that lives one door down from me on the same floor. Her name is Horikawa Shizuko, and she is a sweet lady that attends my English Conversation classes in Matubara whenever she can. Ironically, her first name, Shizuko, means "quiet child". How her 'Commercial Cars' got to be the LOUDEST in the city is beyond me, but it is nothing like her normal personality. And her cars must have driven by our apartment building like ten times a day the past week; as if every person in the building wasn't already voting for her!!!

It seems to be over for this year at least. I saw her in the hallway and she told me that they are counting the votes. Let's just hope there are no hanging chads or there may have to be some kind of damn runoff election, and I may have to break out my slingshot...
