Moderately Strong Earthquake Strikes Japan
Sat Jul 23, 4:31 AM ET
TOKYO - A moderate earthquake shook eastern Japan on Saturday afternoon, rattling buildings in the capital. There were no immediate reports of damage and no danger of tsunami waves from the 5.7 magnitude quake, the country's Meteorological Agency said.
The earthquake was centered about 55 miles underground in Chiba prefecture, just east of Tokyo, the agency said.
Japan sits at the juncture of four tectonic plates, or moving slabs of the earth's outer crust, and is one of the world's most quake-prone regions. A magnitude-5 quake can damage homes and other buildings if it is centered in a heavily populated area.

Earthquakes...
This didn't happen anywhere near me, but I have friends there that felt it.
