"Paypal"

So I got an email the other day from “Paypal”.

They told me that someone recently logged into my account from Spain, so I needed to click on the link provided and updated my account or they would have to suspend my account. Now I had just used my a Paypal account for the first time in a year to make a $13 purchase about a week ago, so I thought, “Damn. Those idiots don’t know Japan from Spain? WTF?!?”

So, I followed the instructions and put in my Visa card info, pin number etc. and after that I tried to log in again but it didn't work right. That's when I noticed the site I was on was paypal.tk. I know a bit about country codes and websites since I have my own site. I know that .jp is japan and .de is germany and .uk is the United Kingdom, but .tk? What is that, Turkey? That's when I did a search and got a little nervous after I found this site:
http://www.dot.tk/
Tokelau is a small little shit island nearer to New Zealand than anything else, a thirty-four hour boat ride is necessary to reach the little floating turd that they call an island, at least that's what it says on their site.
I realized that Paypal probably had no need to have a division of their domain name like this, and my fears were confirmed when I saw a $1,534.80 transaction on my Visa account. Turns out I was the IDIOT!
I just got off the phone with Wells Fargo and cancelled my card and I shouldn’t have to pay the transaction, but I’m lucky I caught it while it was still PENDING.
The moral of the story is, check those dot codes at the end of the websites in your address bar before you make that transaction or give out your info. A list of country codes can be found here:
