休み (yasumi) is Japanese for VACATION! I think this may very well be my first paid vacation in my entire life. I will spend it making new friends, studying Japanese, singing at Karaoke bars and just relaxing. I feel like I've been moving for the past six months, so I am looking forward to doing nothing that I don`t want to do. I was supposed to have internet access today but when I called them, they told me that they wouldn`t be able to connect it today. Sooooo I guess this means hooking up a landline telephone is a pain in the arse anywhere on the planet. Somethings are universal, like flies. Flies look exactly the same here, in Australia and in the US. Sure, we have horseflies in the US, but those are technically different animals. They aren't just FAT houseflies. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is smoking. I still don't smoke first-hand, but in the past three weeks I have inhaled enough second-hand smoke to drive a herd of elephants out of a forest. I think my contacts are turning as grey as my lungs.
Anyway, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and Happy New year and whatever else anyone may believe at this time of year. Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures of New Years Eve fireworks soon.
