My second day in Tokyo (back in October) was spent hanging out with a friend I met via the internet back in 2005, Louis Corporale. Louis is a violin maker from Nebraska. He has lived in Japan since graduating from violin making school, and he has been very successful at his craft. He has customers from all over the world, and more than one place of residence in Japan (very impressive). I took a picture of the view from his house, in the panoramic section. Louis also has a violin making school that I visited last year when I first arrived in Japan.

While visiting him at his hone in Hachioji, the western suburb of Tokyo, he showed me (and let me hold in my hands) an original Stradivarius violin.

We delievered it to a customer that was staying at one of Japan’s most expensive hotels, the Park Hyatt in Tokyo (look for tons of pictures on this site).

For Bill Murray fans, you might remember this hotel from the recent movie called “Lost in Translation”.

The hotel is amazing inside and out,

and all of the Japanese people working there had amazing English.

I am supposed to be redoing his website for some extra money, so hopefully it will be a profitable relationship for both of us.
On a related subject, I should be making another violin soon. A gorgeous violinist from New York named Lyris Hung is going to commission a custom made violin. I will begin work on it in February of next year. Its gonna be SWEET!
Ta ta!
